An exiled Benazir Bhutto captivated a large Council audience with her impassioned discussion of a free and democratic Pakistan, only a few years before a fateful return to family, home and a run for President.
April 29, 1985:
The Right Honourable Sir Edward Heath, KG MBE and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, visited Wilmington to address the World Affairs Council. Though a member of the Conservative Party, he brought the UK into the European Economic Community and was later critical of the Thatcher era. Council members enjoyed a lively discussion as he critiqued the politics of Reagan and Thatcher.
