The
World Affairs Council of Wilmington was organized in 1967 to provide
a forum to discuss international affairs. Since its founding, the
Council has brought several hundred speakers to Wilmington including
former heads of state, ambassadors, senior level government
officials, leading academics and others who have influence in the
international arena. Through the World Affairs Council, members and
the public have had the opportunity to meet, hear, and question
these distinguished guests.
The
Council carries out its mission through sponsored public and private
programs, and through joint programs with The University of Delaware
and other organizations.
Private
dinners are off-the-record to promote openness by the speakers, and
include time to meet and talk with the speakers individually prior
to dinner.
Public
programs generally include a presentation and question and answer
session with a large audience. Public programs may be
held in and around Wilmington and at the University of Delaware in
coordination with the "Global Agenda" lecture series.
